Licensing & activation

One price, forever — no subscription, no account required to use the app. Here's how the trial, your licence key and your two seats work, and how to move to a new Mac.

The free trial

A fresh install runs as a free trial so you can migrate your whole library and try every module before paying. During the trial, import, organise, Develop, Capture and export all work normally. There's nothing to sign up for — just download and open the app.

The trial is registered when the app first launches, so re-installing doesn't reset it.

Buying

Lumidex Studio is a one-time purchase — you own the version you buy, forever, with no recurring fee. Checkout is handled by Paddle, our reseller, which takes care of local tax and gives you a proper receipt. For the current price, see the Pricing page.

When your purchase completes, your licence key is emailed to you and also shown on the confirmation page. Keep it — it's how you activate on any Mac.

Note

Your purchase includes 12 months of updates. After that, the version you own keeps working permanently — you simply stop receiving newer builds unless you extend.

Activating your key

  1. Open the License window
Choose Lumidex Studio → License… from the app menu.
  2. Paste your key
Enter the LUMX-… key from your purchase email and confirm.
  3. You're activated
The window shows your licence as active and this Mac as one of your seats. The trial banner disappears.

Your seats

One licence covers two Macs — for example a desktop and a laptop. Both show in the License window's seat list, with the current machine marked This Mac. Activate on a second Mac exactly as above using the same key.

Moving to a new Mac

If you're replacing a Mac or you've used both seats and need to free one, you have two ways to release a seat:

  • From the old Mac — open License… and click Deactivate this Mac. That frees the seat immediately for the new one.
  • If the old Mac is gone — you can manage your seats yourself from the web at lumidexstudio.app/manage, which also covers logic-board swaps that make a Mac look like a new machine.

Offline & the "fails open" promise

A paid copy checks in with the licence server periodically, but it does not need to be online to keep working. If the server is unreachable — or if it ever went away entirely — your paid app keeps running. A licensing problem can only ever be raised by a positive server response (for example a confirmed refund), never by silence. That's the "one price, forever" promise in code.

Your catalogue is never held hostage

If a trial ends or a licence lapses, the app degrades gracefully rather than locking you out of your own photos. You can always browse your catalogue and export your photos out; only importing, Develop, Capture and similar are gated behind an active licence. Your files and your catalogue are yours regardless of licence state.

Privacy

There's no telemetry, no tracking and no ads. The only scheduled outbound calls are the periodic licence check and the update check. See the Privacy policy for the specifics.
